SPC Biomicrogel developed the Biomicrogel® BMG-C4 preparation unit

Engineers of SPC BioMicroGel have developed and successfully tested a processing and dispensing station designed for preparation of Biomicrogel® BMG-C4 reagents that are used to increase efficiency of vegetable oils extraction.


When designing the station, the engineers considered the local specifics of palm oil production plants’ operations and the climatic characteristics of Southeast Asia. This region is a key focus for SPC BioMicroGel team, which offers customers reagents and equipment to increase oil extraction yields and reduce oil losses during its production.

The development of BMG PDS-1000.1с preparation and dispensing station was an expected and natural move after SPC BioMicroGel started supplies of BMG-C4 to Malaysia and Indonesia. When added to the mixture of water, oil and fruit pulp, this reagent increases the oil extraction yields and reduces the loss of oil during its production. When extracting oil from the aqueous phase, after fruit pulp / seeds are crushed / pressed, as well as at the stages of settling and centrifugation, the key goal is to maximize the oil recovery, which remains between the particles of the crushed culture.
The solution of BMG-C4 can be used at each of these steps. It is also important that this reagent is obtained through complex processing of plant raw materials, it is a food grade product, therefore it is completely safe for the environment and it does not affect the quality and characteristics of the produced oil. According to the estimates of SPC BioMicroGel, the economic effect of using BMG-C4 for a factory with a capacity of 60 tons of fruit bunches per hour is up to extra 300-500 thousand dollars per year.

The unit itself has a production capacity of 1000 liters of reagent solution per hour and can be operated in two modes: manual and automatic (which is important when, due to legislative or some other reasons, it is necessary to minimize manual labor at a palm oil plant). In the first case, the whole process of mixing the working solution from the reagent and water is controlled by the operator. The operator regulates the supply of the required volume of solution at the metering pump, sets the required number of pulses, or adjusts the settings of the frequency converter to achieve the required dosage rate of the working solution. The operation of the pump and mixing device is controlled by feedback signals from sensors. The optimal amount of reagent is dosed automatically, which helps increase oil extraction and reduce oil losses in production waste in the clarifier and reduce overall oil losses at the plant. The engineers of SPC BioMicroGel used a plunger-type metering pump in the unit in order to avoid emulsification.

The station for preparation and dosing BMG-C4 is shipped to customers as a preassembled unit and can be easily integrated into the existing production process. The prototype of the station was successfully tested during the industrial trials on the Indonesian island of Sumatra, where the engineers from SPC BioMicroGel tested the station at several plants. Taking into account the humidity and hot climate of Indonesia, the station parts were made of stainless steel, which offers increased resistance to corrosion.

Our tests have demonstrated the high efficiency of the BMG-C4 preparation and dosing unit.
